<description> While negotiations with Joe Thornton are just getting started, GM Doug Wilson and the Sharks are close to signing restricted free agent Devin Setoguchi to a contract that will most likely be a one-year deal.

Both sides are optimistic it could happen in the next week. In just his second year in the NHL, Setoguchi scored 31 goals. Last season, he had 20 goals in 70 games, along with five goals in the playoffs.

Forward Andrew Ladd, a member of the Stanley-Cup winning Chicago Blackhawks who was traded to Atlanta on July 1, has settled on a 1-year, $2.35 million contract with the Thrashers, thus avoiding arbitration.

The 24-year-old native of Maple Ridge, B.C. had 17 goals and 21 assists for the Hawks last season, putting up three goals and three assists in the post-season en route to the championship.

<description> The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League announced Thursday that they have re-signed forward Neil Trimm for the 2010-11 season. Trimm is entering his third professional season and his second with the Bucks.

Last season Trimm, a native of Westmeath, Ontario, put up 30 points (14-16=30) in 43 games for the Bucks. Trimm picked up six points on the power-play (2-4=6), had two shorthanded assists and two game-winning goals last season while missing 21 games due to injuries. In the 2010 playoffs Trimm had four points (3-1=4) in the Bucks seven-game series loss to Allen.
