Finally Some Meat!!!

Written by Kevin Jordan under Mudbugs Hockey

The Mudbugs sign a guy over 6ft. yea, and with a scoring touch, even better. I am very pleased at this signing of Joe Blaznek, I have always liked him as a player and thought he was a classy person as well. A piece of the puzzle that will fit in very nicely. Fit into what we do not know as of yet.

Furthermore, I must ask a question that has been bugging me all throughout the summer. And I want the answer to come from the front office, whom in my opinion does a lousy ass job of PR work in letting us season ticket holders and gamers know what the hell is going on once in a while. As I was saying I want to know is Joe Ori in or out, if so that’s terrific, if not please stop counting him as one of the players in camp. The last press release says we have 6 players in camp. Please clear up this confusion.

Here it is almost September and I have an idea when training camp opens, and that both preseason game are going to be played in Mississippi against the RiverKings, thanks to a press release from Riverkings.com. But have we heard a peep out of our own front office? I guess it’s on a need to know basis and they feel us fans don’t need to know. What a pathetic approach.

I never do but, let’s say I wait until October 17th to buy my season tickets, and furthermore because I am not properly prepared for the season, I lose patience and interest and decide not to buy season tickets?

Now we all know the earlier the season tickets are purchased the better it is for the teams budget for the upcoming season. Therefore I can’t understand why there isn’t more attention payed to bringing the Mudbugs out of the closet so to speak over the summer. Simple more news from the team, the more the excitment and curiosity for the upcoming season builds up. We played all year round up north.

I don’t know how I ended up on that path just then but it was a path that needed mowing nevertheless. I would just like for once to see the Mudbug brass step up to the plate and put to rest all the mysteries surrounding this team. I believe it can be done without Muscutt giving up his precious secrets to the rest of the frigging world, like they really care anymore or will find out anything new. Don’t you think they all know by now the kind of players he drafts, they know the system he employs, so I ask where are the secrets anyway.

Don’t get me wrong, believe it or not I do feel Scott Muscutt is a very fine coach, but his way has a burnout button to it that begs change. The question is will he be the one who changes or will the Mudbugs make him change his place of employment. Much better coaches than he have gotten the pink slip. It’s tough being a coach in this business because it is always about what can you do for me NOW.

Change eventually may be the best thing for his career and the best thing for the team to move on to a new era as well. It will be very hard to do someday, but it is going to happen. Let’s all hope it happens for the best of everyone and not the worst. But I think that the friendship is too strong for that.

Just 2 More!

Written by Kevin Jordan under Mudbugs Hockey

It’s just over 72 days left before they drop the puck on a new season of exciting hockey, so I thought I would share a few  questions and tidbits with you.

Let’s begin with the title of this article shall we?

Each team carries 16 skaters, 9 fwds. 6 def 1 Extra (can be a fwd or def). if the CHL would allow just 2 more extra players per team, each team could have the luxury of a 4th line. although it may seem having a 4th line is pointless when they get so little ice time, but really and truly what it comes down to is how the line is used and if their offensive potential outweighs their defensive shortcomings. But of course most teams are going to fill that line with their tough guys, I say even a better reason to a 4th line.

I’m certain the reason I am going to hear is the same thing all good ideas get shot down for,  the mighty dollar. Although it does make me wonder why they can’t scrape up enough for 2 more rookies?

Well I heard through the Grapevine that the the goaltenders will no longer count against the vet rule. Which is rather ironic, cause if I remember right Kenny Carroll was kept out of a certain number games at the end of last season to remain under the limit for this season.

I don’t know about you but I hate this time of the year as sports fan. It’s right at the cusp of everything. It’s the calm before the storm. Some good news from 1 Mudbugs Drive would lift the spirits some. The latest news rumbling around is that the Bugs have made their decision on a GM, but have not formally announced it yet. Let me help his name rhymes with Jay Feeelya, Hope that’s not his real name!

I must switch channels just a bit to the NHL and say, the Ex-Toronto Maple Leaf Mats Sundin situation can be thought of in two ways. The first is how I feel, and that is, Hey Sundin!! Shit or get of the pot pal! who the hell ya gonna play for? I’m sick of all the Sundin this, Sundin that, Decide already!. whew! I feel better now. The second reason is not so much from him as it is from the billions of press they have covering the story all across Canada and 100 fold in the greater Toronto area. Just Imagine the club area at the CTC filled with nothing but press writers beaming down the players every move, everything they do right is asked about , everything they do wrong is scrutinized.

There is a chance that the press is over reacting, but the Sundin should already have expected that playing in Toronto for practically his whole career.

Ok! I don’t usually put NFL stuff on here but I cant help it. Mamma Mia! 20 mil NOT to play, that’s what the Packers offered Brett Favre to retire as a Packer and not move on to another team. That’s just ludicrous. Is the Green Bay organization that desperate to keep him in their family that they would spend that kind of money. Oh and correct if I am wrong please, but don’t the fans own all the stock in the team?  Its a shame that this kind of crap is going on at the end of his career whoever is to blame, I still hate to see it.
